Returning to my self-imposed question, why was I shocked to see this? And naturally, with the spurt of the e-commerce trend, it will not be evaded that shops catering to the specialised desires of mountain bikers have sprouted online too.

But is this a bad thing we are speaking about? Personally, I suspect not. The emergence of e-commerce has took along with it an unrivalled convenience and availability of products and services that your local bike shop will be hard-pressed to match. Unless, naturally, your local bike shop has established a web presence too. Fans and buyers are significantly benefiting from the big range of products that are freely available from almost anywhere in the world, through the Net.
